Registration Labels for NSW Motor Vehicles

From 1 January, 2013, registration labels in NSW are no longer required to be displayed on light vehicles including cars, motorbikes or trailers.

It is not an offence to keep your old registration label on your car, however, after 1st January 2013 you are no longer required to display one.

You must still pay your registration but the RMS (Roads & Maritime Services) will no longer provide registration labels.

NSW Police are still able to check your registration by scanning your registration number and Police will be alerted immediately if your motor vehicle is not registered.

Driving an unregistered motor vehicle can result in a fine of $530.00 by way of traffic infringement notice and if the matter is heard before a Court the maximum fine is $2,200.00.

If you need advice in relation to any traffic or Police related matter call Geoff Brazel on (02) 4324 7699.
